HOW TO GET AHEAD OF THE DISORGANIZATION

DO YOU FEEL LIKE A HOT FLIPPING MESS? IS YOUR LIFE GETTING JUST A LITTLE TOO STRESSFUL IN ALMOST EVERY ASPECT? DO YOU FEEL LIKE HIDING IN THE CORNER OF YOUR HOUSE WITH A TUB FULL OF ICE CREAM AND A FLUFFY FRIEND TO CUDDLE WITH WHILE YOU IMAGINE THEM TELLING YOU EVERYTHING IS OK? YES? NO? MAYBE….? WELL TONIGHT, I WANTED TO SIT DOWN AND TALK ABOUT WHEN YOUR LIFE STARTS TO GET A LITTLE TOO CHAOTIC AND YOU START FEELING LIKE YOU ARE GOING TO GO INSANE…. THAT YOU ARE OK. YOU ARE NORMAL. AND YOU WILL GET THROUGH THIS.

TODAY’S BLOG POST IS GOING TO BE MY FIVE BIGGEST TIPS TO YOU GUYS ON HOW TO GET AHEAD OF THE CHAOS AND DISORGANIZATION IN YOUR LIFE. I HOPE THAT YOU GUYS CAN GET SOMETHING OUT OF ONE OF THESE TIPS, IF NOT ALL.

AS ALWAYS FEEL FREE TO LEAVE ANY COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS AT THE BOTTOM. I WOULD LOVE TO CHAT WITH YOU MORE! LET’S GET INTO IT:

TIP NUMBER ONE: MAKE A YIN/YANG LIST!

THIS IS MY NUMBER ONE TIP BECAUSE BY MAKING A YIN/YANG LIST, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO FIGURE OUT THE THINGS IN YOUR LIFE THAT ARE GOING WELL AND THE THINGS IN YOUR LIFE THAT NEED A LITTLE BIT OF HELP OR IMPROVEMENT.  TAKE THE TIME TO CREATE A YIN/YANG LIST WHEN YOU EITHER FIRST WAKE UP IN THE MORNING OR DURING THE DAY WHEN YOU ARE FREE TO. SOMETIMES MAKING A LIST LIKE THIS WILL CAUSE YOU TO THINK, THEREFORE IT IS BEST TO AVOID AT NIGHT RIGHT BEFORE BED. YOU MAY BE THE KIND OF PERSON WHO CAN COMPLETE YOUR LIST IN A DAY, OR YOU MAY BE THE KIND OF PERSON TO FINISH YOUR LIST IN A WEEK. THERE IS NO RUSH. THERE IS NO TIME FRAME. FEEL FREE TO TAKE THE TIME, ENERGY, AND THOUGHT YOU NEED TO WRITE OUT A GOOD LIST.

BE SURE TO TAKE THE TIME TO WRITE OUT ALL THE POSITIVE, AS WELL AS NEGATIVE THINGS AFFECTING YOUR LIFE IN ALL ASPECTS; FROM WORK, TO YOUR RELATIONSHIP, TO YOUR LIVING SITUATION, AND HABITS. ONCE YOU HAVE YOUR LIST DO NOT BE SURPRISED IF YOU SEE MORE ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE THAN THE POSITIVE. AFTER ALL IF YOU ARE STRESSED AND OVERWHELMED IT’S MOST LIKELY BECAUSE MORE THINGS ARE OUT OF BALANCE THAN IN BALANCE. NO WORRIES, THINGS WILL CORRECT THEMSELVES OUT EVENTUALLY AFTER ALL. THE POINT OF THIS LIST IS TO HAVE A VISUAL GUIDELINE OF WHERE TO START.

TIP NUMBER TWO: OBTAIN SOME TOOLS TO ASSIST.

MY SECOND TIP IS TO OBTAIN SOME TOOLS TO ASSIST YOU IN CREATING A MORE ORGANIZED LIFE. I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU MY THREE BEST TOOLS TO USE WHEN YOU ARE JUST STARTING OUT. THESE TOOLS ARE AFFORDABLE, CUSTOMIZABLE TO YOUR NEEDS, AND CAN SERVE MULTIPLE USES.

  • THE FIRST THING I WANT TO MENTION IS A PLANNER OF SOME SORTS. NOW A DAYS THERE IS LITERALLY A TYPE OF PLANNER FOR EVERY PERSON, AND THEY ARE REASONABLY AFFORDABLE, THOUGH CAN GET MORE EXPENSIVE. (YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THAT IN THE BEGINNING HOWEVER.) THERE ARE SIMPLE AND PLAIN PLANNERS OR COLORFUL AND MOTIVATING. THERE ARE BINDER PLANNERS OR COILED PLANNERS. THERE ARE PLANNERS FOR WEDDINGS, PREGNANCY, NUTRITION, BUDGETING…YOU NAME IT AND THERE IS PROBABLY A PLANNER FOR IT. IF YOU ARE NEW TO THE IDEA OF PLANNING WITH A PLANNER, FEEL FREE TO CHECK OUT MY PREVIOUS POST: HERE. THIS POST WILL GIVE YOU A LITTLE BETTER GUIDELINE ON HOW TO PICK THE RIGHT PLANNER FOR YOU.
  • THE SECOND TOOL I WANT TO MENTION IS EITHER A WHITEBOARD OR A CHALKBOARD. ONCE AGAIN, THESE CAN COME IN DIFFERENT FORMATS TO FIT YOUR NEEDS, WHETHER YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A MONTHLY CALENDAR, A WEEKLY LAYOUT, OR A FULLY BLANK LAYOUT. YOU WILL WANT TO PLACE THESE SOMEWHERE WHERE YOU HAVE A LOT OF PERSONAL TRAFFIC IN YOUR HOME. WHETHER IT IS ON YOUR KITCHEN FRIDGE, IN YOUR OFFICE, OR BY THE DOOR IN WHICH YOU LEAVE AND COME BACK HOME FROM. THAT WAY YOU WILL ALWAYS BE ABLE TO SEE WHAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN DOWN. PRICE WISE THESE CAN RANGE FROM REASONABLE TO EXPENSIVE DEPENDING ON THE SIZE, AND QUALITY OF THE PIECE. I AM GOING TO BE HONEST WITH YOU….TO USE THESE EFFICIENTLY, YOU WILL NEED A LOT OF SELF DISCIPLINE TO KEEP UP WITH IT. I PERSONALLY FIND MYSELF WRITING MARCH’S CALENDAR OUT, ONLY TO STILL SEE MARCH WHEN IT’S OCTOBER. (HENCE WHY I GO WITH PLANNER.)
  • THE LAST TOOL I WANT TO MENTION IS ACTUALLY THE MOST AFFORDABLE AND EASIEST TO START OFF WITH AND THAT IS STICKY NOTES! IF YOU ARE NOT FULLY COMMITTED TO WRITING IN A PLANNER EVERYDAY, OR YOU DON’T THINK YOU WILL KEEP UP AND ACTUALLY ERASE YOUR WHITEBOARD/CHALKBOARD STICKY NOTES ARE THE WAY TO GO! YOU CAN SIMPLY WRITE ANY OF YOUR TO DO LISTS, REMINDERS, OR APPOINTMENT DATES ON THEM AND STICK THEM SOMEWHERE WHERE YOU ARE GOING TO DEFINITELY SEE THEM. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND PLACING THEM SOMEWHERE YOU VISIT EVERYDAY SO THAT YOU ARE SURE TO SEE THEM. THIS INCLUDES USUALLY: THE FRIDGE, THE BATHROOM MIRROR, YOUR WALLET, ON YOUR STEERING WHEEL IN YOUR VEHICLE, AND ON THE  DOOR THAT YOU ENTER AND EXIT YOUR HOME FROM. IF YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT WASTING PAPER WITH THIS METHOD, YOU CAN ALWAYS USE SOME SORT OF ERASABLE PEN OR PENCIL AND REUSE THEM.

TIP NUMBER THREE: DON’T BE AFRAID OF HELP!!!!

YOU GUYS…. DO NOT BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR HELP! WHETHER THIS HELP COMES FROM A PARTNER/SPOUSE, ANOTHER LOVED ONE, A FRIEND, A CO-WORKER, OR A PROFESSIONAL MAKE SURE YOU ARE REACHING OUT FOR HELP WHEN YOU ARE STRUGGLING. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH ASKING FOR HELP WHEN YOU NEED IT. TRUST ME, EVERYONE STRUGGLES. NO ONE’S LIFE IS ALWAYS PERFECT, NO MATTER HOW MUCH THEY PRESENT A PERFECT LIFE TO YOU. SOMETIMES YOU HAVE A REALLY GOOD STREAK IN LIFE WHERE EVERYTHING IS GOING RIGHT AND OTHER TIMES…WELL IT ALL HITS THE FAN AND SPIRALS DOWNWARDS INTO HOTMESSVILLE.  NO ONE SHOULD EVER HAVE TO FEEL LIKE THEY HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING ALL BY THEMSELVES THOUGH.

TIP NUMBER FOUR: POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS!

FOR THIS TIP, I WOULD SUGGEST STICKING WITH EITHER A POSITIVE SELF HELP READ OR AN E-BOOK. I WOULD STAY AWAY FROM PINTEREST AND INSTAGRAM AND I SAY THIS ONLY BECAUSE WHILE YOU START OFF WITH SEARCHING FOR POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS, YOU USUALLY END UP LOOKING AT HAIR TRENDS…..RECIPES….CUTE BABIES OR ANIMALS…. WELL… MMM…HM… YEAH. NEEDLESS TO SAY IT IS VERY EASY TO GET DISTRACTED. ASIDE FROM A POSITIVE READ OR AN E-BOOK I WOULD SUGGEST ALSO TAKING THE TIME TO WRITE UP YOUR OWN POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS AND PLACING THEM WHERE YOU CAN SEE THEM. PERHAPS NEXT TO YOUR ALARM CLOCK, ON THE BATHROOM MIRROR AS YOU ARE GETTING READY, OR SOMEWHERE IN YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT. (IF ALLOWED) HAVING A LOVED ONE, A CO-WORKER, A FRIEND TO SHARE AFFIRMATIONS WITH IS A GREAT WAY TO ALSO HELP SPREAD THAT POSITIVITY AS WELL. IF YOU START YOUR DAY OFF IN A POSITIVE MANNER, YOU ARE MORE LIKELY TO TAKE BAD SITUATIONS MORE POSITIVELY AS WELL AND TURN THEM INTO CHALLENGES, RATHER THAN LETTING THEM DEFEAT YOU AND GET YOU DOWN FOR THE DAY.

TIP NUMBER FIVE: BABY STEPS!!!

SO LET’S REVIEW: YOU NOW HAVE YOUR LIST OF THINGS IN YOUR LIFE THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO IMPROVE. YOU HAVE ALSO GAINED A TOOL OR TWO TO HELP YOU FURTHER GET YOURSELF ORGANIZED WHERE YOU NEEDED IT MOST. ALSO, WITH THAT LIST YOU HAVE SOMEONE WHO CAN HELP YOU IF YOU ARE FEELING OVERWHELMED. YOU ALSO HAVE STARTED TO FILL YOUR LIFE WITH POSITIVITY USING AFFIRMATIONS THAT YOU LOVE OR RECEIVING THEM FROM THOSE YOU LOVE. THE LAST THING IS BABY STEPS, BABY STEPS, BABY STEPS! THIS IS SO IMPORTANT SO THAT YOU DON’T END UP OVERWHELMED ALL OVER AGAIN. I KNOW THAT YOU ARE PROBABLY EAGER TO GET A START ON IMPROVING CERTAIN ASPECTS OF YOUR LIFE, HOWEVER I HIGHLY SUGGEST THAT YOU TAKE THE TIME TO FOCUS ON ONE THING ON YOUR LIST AT A TIME AND FOCUS ON THAT TASK UNTIL IT HAS BEEN COMPLETED FULLY. DON’T BE AFRAID IF SOMETHING TAKES WEEKS OR MONTHS TO GET BACK ON TRACK. YOUR LIFE ISN’T A RACE TO ANOTHER’S. EVERYONE MOVES AT THEIR OWN PACE.
